Creative Writer Week! October 2024
During creative writers’ week, we have been looking at the county of Somerset!
We have explored famous people who come from Somerset including Mary Berry who was born in Bath.
Also, we have focused in on Wookey Hole and created 'Wanted' posters for the Witch of Wookey Hole as well as writing a story based on the caves inside Wookey Hole.
To round our learning of, we wrote a recipe on how to bake a classic 'Somerset Apple Cake' and even got to bake one! It was truly delicious!
Biographies January 2025
In Literacy we have recently written a biography based on the life and achievements of Greta Thunberg. We read ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ based on her life. We researched key information about her successes and the hurdles Greta has faced.
We turned our research into a factual and formal biography as can been seen here. This linked into our Integrity work as well
as our Geography little question ‘How can I help my local environment?’.
Leaflets January 2025
We have recently looked at the key features of a leaflet. We turn our knowledge of leaflets into our own based on ‘What plants need to survive’. This linked into our learning in Science where we have looked at the function of a flower, pollination and parts of a plant.
Drama and Performance January 2025
To kickstart our learning on Non-Chronological reports, we studied ‘The Rainbow Dragon’. We took key paragraphs from this model non-chron and learnt it through pictures and movement. Now that we have learnt this, we can use these ideas in our own writing when writing about our own mythical dragon!
