Adventures in Storyland with Clive PiG

at Thornford Primary School,

We had an enjoyable day with other year 5 and 6 children from local schools, spending the day with Clive PiG, an author, poet and songster.

He has written 3 books, Unicorn in the Playground, Jurassic Cove and Adventures of Mister Storyteller.

Some top tips from him:

· You all have “Word Wands” - these are your pens and pencils.

· Being a writer/storyteller is like being a hunter – you wait for ages for an idea and then suddenly you notice something and an idea springs from there.

· Have a book/journal to jot down your thoughts, funny things that have happened, words that you like. When you need help with an initial idea, look in the book, your inspiration could come from there. Remember though, that not all ideas are gems.

· When your ideas come to nothing, stop, so something different, have a break and then try again.

· Exclamation marks have power, do not overuse them.
