Parent Teacher Friend Association
St Michael’s Academy is lucky to have the support of a strong Parent Teacher Friend Association (PTA). The PTA is committee run, made up from parents and staff in line with the National Federation of PTAs of which we are a member and as such, have adopted their Constitution.
All parents are automatically members of the PTA and you are welcome to come to Meetings whenever you are able. All ideas and offers of help are most welcome and greatly appreciated.
Monies raised from the different events are used to provide essential equipment and resources for the school. During the year the PTA receive requests for ‘extras’ from the teaching staff to assist and support various children’s and other school projects.
The PTA is involved in organising both social and fund raising events. We work in conjunction with the staff and children to provide maximum enjoyment for all resulting in the positive accumulation of funds. These funds provide those much needed ‘extras’ for the school. Including: books, educational workshops, playground equipment, both serious and fun things.
Previous events have included: Discos, Bingo Nights and Christmas and Summer Fayres, plus our regular ‘Fruity Friday’ slot but the PTA is always open to new ideas to help swell the coffers.
A Member’s Insight
“From a personal point of view, I have found being a member of the PTA incredibly rewarding. Through its membership I have formed enduring friendships with other parents and staff and I always feel appreciated.
Fund raising is only one example of my involvement at St Michael’s Academy. I also listen to readers, help at cookery sessions and have been an accompanying adult on school trips, for example at the recent Bath & West Show. I could go on…..
The opportunity is there to do as little or as much as you wish.
